San Diego Book Awards
That’s me kissing my award from the San Diego Book Awards. I won for Unpublished Memoir. In my acceptance speech, I thanked those who came to the event: my friends, Robin and Robert, Donna, Jean, and my family, Molly, and my Mom and Dad.
“What about David?” someone yelled. ”David.”
“Oh, my God,” I said. “And David, my husband.”
He’d been asked to take photos so he wasn’t in the seats, and when I saw an empty seat next to Molly, I thought it was mine.
